Wollondilly Active Transport Strategy

Supporting active transport opportunities in Wollondilly to create tangible social, health and environmental benefits for the community.

We are developing an Active Transport Strategy to encourage the adoption of sustainable and active transport modes. As the region’s population and transport demands grow active transport will play a more important role in how we move around.

Active transport mainly refers to walking and cycling, but can also include running, skate-boarding, riding a scooter and rollerblading as examples other active modes of transport.

The Strategy will be an overarching road map for active transport planning and infrastructure in the region and will consolidate and complement existing plans and strategies such as the Wollondilly Bike Plan (2019).

The Strategy will aim to:

  • improve community physical and mental health through increased use of active transport modes,
  • reduce traffic congestion by making it easier to choose active transport as an alternative to cars, and
  • deliver positive environmental outcomes by reducing vehicular pollution.

We want to hear from you about how active transport in Wollondilly can be improved to better meet community needs. The feedback collected will help us develop the initiatives and recommendations within the Strategy.

If you are interested in contributing to the development of the Active Transport Strategy please complete a short survey and check out our interactive places map where you can drop a pin on any location and tell us what you think about active transport in that area or what you want to see in the future.

Wollondilly Active Transport Strategy Interactive Places Map

over 3 years

We want to hear from you and other members of the community about how active transport in Wollondilly can be improved. For example, you might want to see a shared bicycle path in your suburb or a bike locker at a nearby train station that you use to travel to work.

Getting involved is easy. Simply drop a pin on the location of your choice and tell us what you think. To help us sort through the information we receive, we’ve come up with a number of feedback categories for you to choose. You might like to use ‘other’ to come up with one of your own.

Current use: Tell us what active transport routes you currently use and why. E.g I use this shared pathway to ride my scooter to bus stop or I ride my bike along this road to get to work.

Opportunities: Tell us what improvements or new infrastructure you would like to see in the region. E.g. I would like to see a bike locker at Picton Station or a new walking path near Lake Burragorang.

Barriers: Tell us about a barrier that limits or stops you from using any active transport mode. E.g There is no shared path in my area to that connects to public transport or the pathway in my suburb is poorly maintained.

If you have a general comment that is not specific to any area, simply place a pin anywhere on the map. We still want to hear from you.

Please complete this survey by Friday 31 July 2020.
