Water Hyacinth (pictured)

Water hyacinth is a floating water weed with blue flowers.

While it might look pretty to some, this plant smothers the surface of waterways, dams, irrigation channels and drains. It can rapidly take over an entire waterway and under the right conditions it can double its mass every 5 days.

Selling this plant is illegal under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015.

    Kudzu

Between 2012 and 2018, Council successfully eradicated an infestation of Kudzu, a Priority Weed, from Buxton.
