Where is Victoria Park, Picton?

For the purpose of this project, the subject site is located at 157 Menangle Street, Picton comprising of Lot 7005 DP 92838 as pictured below:

    Who owns the land?

The site is Council-managed crown land (Crown Reserve R1000528) and covers an area of approximately 2.934 hectares.

The site is immediately adjoining land that is owned by the Picton AH&I Society Incorporated (indicated by blue shading below) which also has floodlit open space. Consultation with this adjoining landowner is an integral part of the development of the master plan, however please note that the land owned by Picton AH&I Society will not be master planned.

Who are the main user groups at Victoria Park?

At present this site is home to the following user groups:

    • Picton Magpies Junior Rugby League Club
    • Picton Magpies Senior Rugby League Club
    • Picton Magpies Old Boys Club
    • Picton Rural Fire Brigade; and
    • Picton AH&I Society.

Will the project include connections to the creek?

The draft master plan will consider how best to address the interface between Victoria Park and the creek line e.g. fencing, pedestrian access, sediment and erosion control.

What previous consultation and research has been considered?

Earlier broad consultation about sport and recreation needs across the Shire gave us more insight into the sentiment in Picton, around the community’s aspirations and vision for local sport and recreation. Best practice examples and research into the local context have also factored into the planning process for Victoria Park.

The first phase of community engagement specifically for Victoria Park provided a concept layout. This was not yet a Master Plan, but an early concept to start discussions with stakeholders and community members. Feedback received during this community consultation was used to define and develop the draft Master Plan, which we are now presenting in phase two of community engagement through the Public Exhibition process.
