Shaping the Future of Victoria Park, Picton

Draft Master Plan - Now on Public Exhibition

In consultation with the community and key user groups, Wollondilly Shire Council has prepared a draft Master Plan to guide upgrades and investment for Victoria Park – and we are currently inviting feedback.

The draft plan includes improved drainage and irrigation on a better-positioned playing field, more parking, a new multi-purpose building, a new multi-purpose court, and pathways for better connections.

In the first phase of community engagement, feedback confirmed key elements of the proposed concept layout and helped us refine it into the draft Master Plan. Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts. You can read more about community feedback in the Engagement Snapshot.

Now that the draft plan is on Public Exhibition, we’re inviting feedback to make sure we’re on the right track.

The Proposed Draft Master Plan – An Overview

A Master Plan is a holistic document to guide upgrades to the site, and better enable Council and key user groups to secure funding opportunities.

Key aspects of this draft Master Plan for Victoria Park include:

  • Reconstructing the field slightly north, with improved drainage and irrigation
  • A new multi-purpose amenities building
  • Overflow parking
  • Formalising parking areas to the north and the east
  • Adding a new youth play element in the form of a multi-purpose court
  • Improving connections around and to the site
  • Erosion control and vegetation management of Stonequarry Creek.

Background

Victoria Park is the home of the Picton Magpies Rugby League Football Clubs (Junior, Senior, and Old Boys), as well as the Picton Rural Fire Brigade. The land adjacent is the home to the Picton District Agriculture, Horticulture and Industry (AH&I) Society, which puts on the Picton Show.

The park already provides sport and recreation opportunities for the local community, and having a master plan in place will help maximise these opportunities. We want to get the most out of this great location, especially considering the limited flexibility of the site – being constrained on all four sides and close to Stonequarry Creek. This makes master planning the site especially important.

In 2025 we engaged master planners / landscape architect consultants Taylor Brammer Architects Pty Ltd to assist in preparing the Victoria Park Master Plan. Together we’ve developed the Master Plan in consultation with the community and key user groups.
