Protecting Our Heritage

Earlier in 2022 we asked the community for suggestions of potential heritage places and items for inclusion in our Shire-Wide Heritage Study.

We asked you to think about things like buildings, sites, streetscapes, and landscapes which are loved by – and important to – the community, and contribute to Wollondilly’s story.

Thank you to everyone who responded.

We have engaged a heritage consultant who is currently undertaking the Shire-Wide Heritage Study.*

The aim of the Heritage Study is to update the existing heritage items already listed in the Wollondilly Local Environment Plan 2011 (WLEP), and identify potential new heritage items for listing, including suggestions we received from the community.

A Planning Proposal would then be required to make changes to the WLEP. As part of that process, we would return to the community for feedback. Watch this space!

* (excluding Appin, Menangle, Thirlmere and Warragamba, which were covered in Stage 1 of the Heritage Study in 2020-21).
