Picton to Tahmoor Shareway Draft Design

Shareway Between Picton and Tahmoor

The community has long called for pathways for cycling and walking which link local towns within the Shire, and Council's most requested link is to connect the major centres of Tahmoor and Picton. These requests have come from residents, schools and community groups, and a shareway between Picton and Tahmoor has been identified in Council's ‘Community Strategic Plan 2033’.

Wollondilly Shire Council exhibited a concept design for a proposed shareway (walking / cycling path) connecting the centres of Tahmoor and Picton.

Funding from the NSW Government's Active Transport program for 2019/20 was used to prepare an initial concept design followed by a detailed design of the Picton to Tahmoor Shareway.

Council has since been successful in applying for co-funding of the project through the NSW State Governments ‘Resources for Regions’ program to design and construct the shareway linking Picton to Tahmoor along Remembrance Driveway (Old Hume highway). Find out more here.

The funding received for the design works was $105,826 with Council contributing an additional $35,275. Additional funding was also received which allowed Council to recently construct 200m of shareway from Picton High to Wonga Road.
