Picton Parklands Master Plan Update

Best Use of Community Space at Picton Sportsground

Wollondilly Shire Council has identified an opportunity to improve the layout of Picton Sportsground, which is part of the Picton Parklands.

We're now inviting community feedback on this proposed update to the Picton Parklands Master Plan.

Background

Wollondilly Shire Council adopted a Master Plan and Plan of Management for Picton Parklands in 2022, developed in consultation with user groups and the local community. Part of the parkland area includes Picton Sportsground on Fairleys Road.

Master Plans provide a long-term vision for recreation facilities, and are usually implemented project by project as funding becomes available.

We’ve obtained funding to upgrade and develop multi-purpose fields from the Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund (Round 2). As part of the detailed design process for this project, we’ve identified an opportunity to improve the layout of Picton Sportsground and ensure best use of this community space by:

  • Relocating the netball courts to the eastern side of the site and revising them to be multi-purpose courts
  • Relocating the cricket wicket further to the eastern side for better drainage
  • Shifting the future amenities, storage and parking south to allow for the cricket boundary at the new location.
