Help Shape our Community Development Plan

How Can Council Best Support Social and Community Connections?

We're encouraging input from community members and organisations as we prepare a draft Community Development Plan.

The Community Development Plan will build on Wollondilly’s strong sense of community, with the aim of turning needs and aspirations into actions for Council and partners, encouraging social connections across the Shire.

Key focus areas include:

  • creating versatile, welcoming public spaces for people to gather
  • supporting inclusive, affordable programs
  • encouraging the sharing of skills and resources, and grassroot solutions to local challenges.

Shaped by community feedback and priorities, the Plan could cover a wide range of areas such as:

  • Community and hobby groups
  • Support programs and activities
  • Volunteering
  • Places to meet
  • Community events and gatherings
  • Culture and heritage
  • Looking after nature
  • Learning and information
  • Neighbourhood and building design
  • Walking, cycling and transport options
  • Local food (affordability and access)
  • Sharing economy and small business.

Something for Everyone

Looking after our social health is just as important as looking after our physical health and mental health, and social opportunities should be available to everyone – including all ages, abilities, locations, incomes, and backgrounds.

Phase One Community Engagement

We are gathering initial feedback between 1 September and 1 December 2026. You can:

  • Take the quick questionnaire
  • Have a chat - keep an eye out for our pop-ups, stalls, and roving staff at events (stay tuned for dates and locations!)
  • Email us at council@wollondilly.nsw.gov.au
  • Write to us at PO Box 21, Picton 2571
  • Call the Community Development Team at 4677 1100.

Help spread the word! Chat to your family, friends, and social groups, and let them know we are listening.
