The Future of Waste Services

Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey about the future of waste services. Your thoughtful input was much appreciated and will help us plan for future waste collection and disposal services for the Shire.

We’re currently working on important new waste contracts that will be coming online in the next two to three years, and we want to ensure they deliver the best environmental outcomes and best value for ratepayers. The purpose for the survey was to identify the community’s priorities and preferences for waste management, including bin collection, household clean-up collection, exploring new technologies, and the environmental and financial costs associated with waste.

The survey response was fantastic – more than 1400 households provided feedback – and it puts Council in a better position to investigate options, make plans, adjust services, educate and advocate in line with community preferences and expectations.

Take a look at the engagement snapshot document for more detail about the survey results.

Still have questions? Contact our Waste Team on 4677 1100.

For all bin enquiries, to report a missed service or broken bin, or for clean-up enquiries, please contact Council's Waste Hotline on 1800 805 305.

  • This survey has concluded.

Council is in the process of planning for the future of waste collection and disposal services for Wollondilly Shire. The current contracts expire in 2024, and while that sounds a long way away, a new regional contract for the processing and disposal of waste, potentially for up to 20 years and involving other neighbouring councils, needs to be determined within the next 12 months.

To help guide the process, we need to ask some important questions to gather your feedback about different waste management system options. This survey will take approximately 10 minutes and is open to one survey per household within Wollondilly Shire. Please read the information in each section and then answer the questions.

We would greatly appreciate your thoughtful participation in this survey.

There are 3 sections to this survey where we’d like your feedback:

    1. The way we provide the kerbside household clean-up service
    2. Exploring new technologies and systems for managing our waste
    3. The economic and environmental cost of managing our waste.
