Review of Sensitive Uses in Rural Zones

Preliminary Consultation

Council is currently inviting feedback on the initial findings of a review of sensitive uses in rural zones.

The review focuses on the following uses in the rural zones in the Shire:

  • Depots
  • Transport depots
  • Truck depots
  • Freight transport facilities
  • Cemeteries
  • Crematoria.

The review considers the current issues plus future risks and potential impacts associated with these uses on rural zoned land, and also considers the context of Council's current Local Strategic Planning Statement (Wollondilly 2040) and adopted Rural Lands Strategy.

Council has prepared a Discussion Paper which includes the initial findings of the review, as well as potential options for amendments to Wollondilly Local Environmental Plan 2011. These amendments may address some of the key issues and risks associated with these uses on rural land. The Local Environmental Plan (LEP) is the legislation which governs decision-making about land use, at a local level. The LEP zones land and determines the specific land uses that are permissible across the range of land use zones, as well as providing other planning standards and controls.

PLEASE NOTE: Submissions related to a particular Development Application (DA) should be made through Council's DA tracker, not Your Say Wollondilly.
