Promoting Safe Public Spaces

Alcohol Free Zones (AFZ) and Alcohol Prohibited Areas (APA) are implemented in an effort to promote public safety by minimising antisocial behaviour caused by alcohol consumption in public areas.

In Wollondilly Shire, alcohol restrictions currently apply on some of our public roads, footpaths, carparks and in parks, across 12 towns and villages:

Alcohol Free Zones apply to road-related public areas such as public roads, footpaths and carparks.

Alcohol Prohibited Areas apply to other public spaces such as parks, and are usually time-specific e.g. between 8:00pm and 6:00am.

These restrictions are established by Council with input from NSW Police and the local community.
