Local Approvals Policy - Events

Wollondilly Shire Council understands the benefits to our residents of being able to hold and attend events within the Shire. In 2023, Council adopted the Local Approvals Policy – Events in an effort to provide a simple and clear approval process for events on community land.

Over the past two years, there have been events, both Council led and community led, that have been held without the need for formal Council approval. A review has been undertaken to ensure the clear and effective operation of the Policy.

Proposed Amendments

The proposed amendments to the Policy seek to clarify the following:

  • That exemptions for mobile food vendors only applies when used in conjunction with a function or event
  • Inclusion of risk assessment required by new policy template

This Policy supports the Community Strategic Plan’s aspirations for enhanced community and event use of Council land. This public notice made in accordance with Section 160 of the Local Government Act, 1993.
