LEP Review Program Stage 1 Planning Proposal

We're inviting feedback on a planning proposal to amend Wollondilly Local Environmental Plan 2011.

The local environmental plan guides planning decisions for the Wollondilly Local Government Area. It does this through zoning and development controls, which provide a framework for how the land can be used.

This planning proposal is being progressed by Council as part of the NSW Government's Accelerated LEP Review Program. This program aims to strengthen and align local strategic planning with the future vision for the Western City District and Greater Sydney.

The objectives of the planning proposal are to:

  • Give effect to the Western City District Plan
  • Enhance the health and wellbeing of communities
  • better manage rural areas
  • housekeeping amendments to ensure the local environmental plan reflects changes on the ground or updates to legislation.

The Planning Proposal affects land across Wollondilly local government area and includes 7 different amendments:

  • Embed the consideration of health outcomes in the assessment of development
  • Recognise the role and function of the Metropolitan Rural Area
  • Rezone Sydney Water land
  • Support sporting clubs - sponsorship advertising signage at sporting facilities
  • Strengthen existing provisions to subdivide land zoned E4 Environmental Living in an Original holding,
  • Remove land from the Land Reservation Acquisition Map that has already been acquired, and
  • Savings and transition provision to clarify the application of the proposed amendments.

The Planning Proposal does not include any amendments to rezone or release areas for housing or to change the minimum lot size requirements for subdivision.
