Inclusion is for Everyone

Diverse group of people including different ages, cultural background and abilities

Adopted June 2022

We have updated our Disability Inclusion Action Plan (Action Plan or DIAP) thanks to input and feedback from the community.

Thanks to everyone who took the survey, attended a focus group, and provided feedback on the draft document. The DIAP is now available under the 'documents' tab, and will soon be available in an easy-read version.

Disabilities can be very different person to person. They can be physical, intellectual, a mental illness, or sensory. They can be temporary or permanent, and can be there from birth or occur during a person’s lifetime.

This Action Plan outlines the clear and concrete ways in which Council can enable more inclusion and accessibility for people living with disability in the community. It focuses on four key areas:

  • Attitudes & Behaviours – Promoting positive attitudes and behaviours toward people with disability
  • Liveability – Ensuring our community is easy to live in, move around in and provides access to the services we need for our health and wellbeing.
  • Employment Opportunities – Supporting access to meaningful employment opportunities at council and encouraging employers in Wollondilly to employ people with disability
  • Systems & Processes – Making sure the information we provide is accessible and easy to understand and that our services are inclusive.
