Sustainability is about balancing our current needs – environmental, social and economic – with the future needs of the next generations.
Wollondilly Council has developed a draft Sustainability Policy and we are inviting feedback until 16 December 2022. The policy is our commitment to implementing sustainable practices across the organisation, and supporting the local community in transitioning to more sustainable practices. It highlights the importance of:
Caring for Country
Evidence based decisions
Ensuring inter-generational equality
Balancing environmental, social and economic impacts
Taking practical action on climate change
Protecting biodiversity.
We are also creating a strategy with objectives to support the policy. The strategy will aim to provide additional guidance on the four areas of influence outlined in the policy:
Corporate Sustainability
Provision of facilities, services, resources and opportunities
Sustainable growth and development
Advocacy, education, collaboration and compliance
