Draft Complaint Handling Policy

Listening is important.

Council's capacity to listen to the community and handle customer complaints through the Complaint Handling Policy are key aspects of the overall customer experience, and represent good governance and responsible business practice.

As community expectations evolve, contemporary practice in handling complaints is attracting a greater focus.

Council's current Complaint Handling Protocol (Administrative Protocol Complaint Handling – AP0058) was due for review in 2023, and will be replaced by the Complaint Handling Policy once it is finalised and adopted following Public Exhibition. This draft Policy is aligned to the NSW Ombudsman Complaint Handling Model Policy, and reflects Council’s ongoing commitment and investment in effective complaints management.

The draft Policy also incorporates information relating to Council’s obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 No 30 and how customers can raise related complaints.
