In the spirit of continuous improvement we are reviewing both the current Code of Meeting Practice (August 2023) and the current Community Forum Guidelines (June 2022).
Council’s Code of Meeting Practice follows the Model Code of Meeting Practice (Meeting Code) prescribed under the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021 which provides a uniform set of meeting rules for councils across the State.
Council and committee meetings should be transparent, informed, inclusive, principled, trusted, respectful, effective and orderly.
This review seeks to:
Realign both documents with the Office of Local Government Model Code of Meeting Practice
Make provisions under the section, ‘Public Forums’, (known as Community Forums) to enable more effective and transparent management of submissions and forum representations.
To assist with reading of the draft document:
Black font indicates mandatory provisions from the Model Code.
Red font indicates optional provisions from the Model Code.
Yellow highlighted sections indicate where content is tailored to support Council’s specific, localised needs.
If this Draft Code of Meeting Practice is adopted, the current adopted July 2022 Code of Meeting Practice and July 2022 Community Forum Guidelines would be repealed.
