Assisted Communications Policy

Adopted May 2022

The Assisted Communications Policy provides clear guidance for how staff at Wollondilly Council can address unreasonable conduct by a complainant, including the ways in which an unreasonable complainant may communicate with Council.

The aim is to allow dialogue to continue in a productive way and work towards rebuilding the relationship, while protecting the health and safety of staff and complainants.

Council reviewed its policy in response to the NSW Ombudsman having updated its Unreasonable Complainant Conduct guidance for State and Local Government. Accordingly, we are ensuring that our policy is fit-for-purpose for Council and the Wollondilly community while also aligning with the NSW Ombudsman model policy.

The Assisted Communications Policy was on public exhibition from Wednesday 13 April to Wednesday 11 May 2022.
